Skerdilaid Curri
Nationality: Albania
Age: 37
D.O.B: 06/10/1975
Place of Birth: Kavaje
Position: Forward
Club: Erzgebirge Aue
The pint-sized strongman from Kavaja, who at one stage had the best
performance indicators among all Albanian midfielders has had a long and
distinguished footballing career. He has been a loyal servant at the Erzgebirge
Aue club where he has recently been rewarded with a player/manager contract.
His career started at his hometown club of Besa Kavaje where he caught
the attention of Partizani Tirana, and was consequently signed by the capital
side.
In 1998 he was transferred to Unterhaching – the same time that Altin
Rraklli was playing – perhaps fuelling speculation that he would get picked to
represent the national team.
His stay at Unterhaching was brief, and he was subsequently transferred
to FC Starnber – and thereafter to VFC Plauen where he stayed for 4 seasons
scoring 23 goals in 94 games.
In 2003, he moved to Erzgebirge Aue and eventually established himself
as a central figure in a team characterised by a small budget and an inability
to attract much investment in players.
It is not an exaggeration to say that the team was organised around him
and he was a central figure having a massive impact in the fortunes of
Erzgebirge.
He served them well, representing them over 244 times and scoring over
28 times.
