While the Albanian FA can be accused of having been guilty of gross incompetence in many occasions in the past in regards to recognising talented footballers – this is not the case with Kapllan – Albania’s highest scorer in any competition with 5 goals in the UEFA Euro 2008 Qualifying campaign.

Kapllani was a product of the Teuta Durres Youth system where he first started however his professional came courtesy of NK Orient in Croatia – before returning home to obtain the finishing touches at Partizani and Besa Kavaje before setting to conquer Europe.

Edmond Kapllani started his European adventure at Karlsruher SC where he stayed for nearly 5 seasons playing for them 118 times and scoring 29 goals in the process.

The next 3 years were of transitional nature, in being unable to establish himself at FC Augsburg.

Since having signed for FSV Frankfurt however, Kapllani has a complete change of fortunes – playing 17 times so far for them and finding the net 7 times so far.

Kapllani’s club revival hopefully will improve his national form too, and he could add to his 6 goals scored for Albania in 36 caps achieved.
