Jurgen Gjasula
Nationality: Albania
Age: 27
D.O.B: 05/12/1985
Place of Birth: Tirana
Position: Central Attacking
Midfielder
Club: Duisburg
Gjasula started his career at SC
Freiburg as a youth, a club that would later on offer him his first
professional contract. He was transferred to FC Kaiserslautern and subsequently
to St Gallen in Switzerland where he was an integral part of the team during
his 3 seasons there.
In 2008 he moved to FC Basel, where
he experienced Champions League football (playing in the qualifying rounds). He
fell out of favour with the new manager that took over FC Basel in 2009 and subsequently
his contract was not renewed.
He moved to FSV Frankfurt on a free –
and established himself once again as a indispensible player – appearing 60
times and scoring 9 goals.
Since 2011 season, Gjasula has
represented MSV Duisburg. While he is no longer a youth, Gjasula has amassed a
lot of experience, and a call-up from the Albanian national team would surprise
nobody. He is definitely hard-working and level headed and would be an
important addition to any squad – whether this suggestion gets taken into
consideration, remains to be seen. Nevertheless it would be a complete waste to
see such a players talent not utilised by Albania or Kosova.
